Day 14: September 30, 2023 (One Last Day in London)
Nina, Elsa & Sophie.
Our last day started at 8.30 in the lobby of our hostel in London. We enjoyed having breakfast together one last time and were excited to explore London for a little while. After a hectic packing experience, we headed out towards Camden market. As we were walking alongside Regent’s Canal, we were reflecting on our two wonderful weeks in Scotland and some of the best, funniest and most memorable moments (actually, we talked about storks and geese but you don't need to know that). The weather was beautiful, we stayed dry and could even enjoy some sunlight. After we arrived at the market we were given time to explore the many stalls selling food, jewellery and clothing. The market was lively, full of people, music and all kinds of things to discover. We really liked walking around, getting food, just enjoying the atmosphere. The perfect last destination before we had to go home. Well, not all of us had to go just yet. Mia will be staying in Paris and us, Nina, Elsa and Sophie, in London. In fact, we're writing this from the tube right now. We also just missed our stop thanks to this wonderful blog. (It is indeed a wonderful blog and surely not the reason for you guy missing your stop😉 comment Ms Ruf)
After this long time full of adventures, we are now on our last journey's leg and will be home in a few hours time. Slowly but surely, the long hours on the train are catching up with us and we're all tired and happy to go home, with lots of fun memories and new experiences in our luggage. We are very lucky to have had the chance to visit all of these beautiful new places, and it's safe to say that all of us fell in love with Scotland a little bit. From packing our bags and leaving at 6am to our Edinburgh apartments and a night filled with Scottish dance to the peaceful harbour in Oban with its windy islands and lush nature to the hostel in Glasgow and our battle with the British train system, everything was one huge adventure. We got to know Jack from the Seabird Centre, Dave our bus driver (who will buy a baby highland cow next year) and Caron who taught us all about Glasgow’s street art and graffiti scene.
We also especially enjoyed experiencing all of this together, getting to know each other better and growing closer as a class. All in all, this will most definitely be a trip to remember for all of us.
See you tomorrow...or not
