Day 10: September 26, 2023 (A Day in the Highlands)
Sara, Delia & Lia.
After two more stops to admire the beautiful Scottish landscape we arrived at the Glencoe visitor centre where we learned about the massacre of Glencoe where one Scottish clan wanted to exterminate the other and that resulted in a bloody massacre. It was so strange to think about such cruelty while looking at this stunning volcanic landscape. The word glen means valley and coe is the name of the river that runs through the area.
Our journey continued with the place where Hagrid's Hut once stood in Glencoe. This place was as a location when the third film of Harry Potter „The Prisoner of Azkaban“ was filmed. The landscape is beautiful and seems to tale of magical stories from days long gone. It seems a pity that the film crew had to take down Hagrid’s Hut afterwards – we would have loved to see the hut in real life.
We also drove by the place where James Bond-Skyfall was filmed. It was so impressive to see all these film locations in real-life. Of course, we had to listen to the iconic song Skyfall by Adele during the drive.
After that we also stopped at a quite creepy pub called Drovers pub. And last but not least we visited the cute little village Luss at loch Lomond which by the way is the biggest lake in Scotland.
Then it was time to say goodbye to our lovely drivers who dropped us off directly in front of our new youth hostel in Glasgow.
see you tomorrow!
