Day 1: September 17, 2023 (Basel - Edinburgh)

Katia and Sylvia.

Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for … for two years. We’re going to Scotland! We began the day at 6am, meeting by the platform at the train station. We checked if we all had our tickets and passports to make sure we could all make it to Edinburgh. By some miracle, we all had everything that we needed. We were all so excited, we couldn’t believe it. We were finally beginning our long-awaited immersion trip.

About an hour later, we arrived in Strasbourg and boarded our next train to Paris. In Paris, we had to switch train stations from Gare de l’Est to Gare du Nord, which involved dragging our luggage up many stairs.

Little did we know there would be a tiny bit of chaos at Gare de l’ Est: an unidentified piece of luggage was found and half of the train station had to be evacuated. Luckily it wasn‘t that big a deal and we made it in time for our train ride underneath the British Channel :0

Finally, we arrived in London, where the weather made sure we knew where we were. We enjoyed hearing the British speak in their accents. Then we took our last train to Newcastle where we got to experience the Scottish accent and … some very drunk people. The last part of our journey was taking a bus from Newcastle to Edinburgh. Some of us didn’t know what to do during our 2.5- hour- drive so they opted for singing karaoke for the rest of the passengers in the bus. Not everyone was happy about it. Or maybe they were? We don’t understand the Scottish accent very well yet.

Arrived in Edinburgh we were all very pleasantly surprised and extremely happy with our apartments :) the hungry ate and the dirty showered, all very excited for bed and for what the next few days would bring with them.

Good night 💕🧳
